In Hindi dialect (the national language of India), the word Burha or Buda means aged or very old and Talab means lake. There are a number of lakes in the city of Raipur. Buda Talab is considered to be the largest among all of them. The splendor of the lake has accentuated for the presence of an island, embroidered with lush green trees and precincts, located at the centre of the lake.
